In response to a growing demand from men wanting to personalise their accessories, designer and founder of Vein Wear, Chris McCallum, launched a custom-design service for his male clientele earlier this year. Of his customers, Chris says, “So far we’ve had people in two camps - one is people who want something that’s just not in stock, be it a bit more room in the toe for example, but the other is the guy that just goes nuts with animal print mixed with purple nubuck to make something we’d never find anywhere else.” After selecting a base
design and getting the sizing right, Vein allows the customer to choose their own leathers, eyelet colours, laces and the most minute styling details to create their ideal shoe. It is an incredibly rare service and it is very exciting to get something truly unique in only three
weeks. Genuine master cobblers, in Vein’s own workshop, manufacture all the footwear by hand. Part of the Vein philosophy is that making shoes by hand brings them to life; through the love, skill, knowledge and technique of the craftsmen who fashion your footwear step-bystep because they take pride in what they do. Chris maintains that “the world needs to hold on to the finer things … and we are passionate that you get what you pay for, and more.”
