Self-replicating Canibalism Eats Vein Store Soon

The progressive art banner in the Vein Store in Brisbane Australia is currently being worked on by talented creator Chris Worfold. It's very exciting to have an artist of Chris' calibre working on the next installment. He has referenced Self-replicating Canibalism as a description for the work. I'll chat to Chris about this more later.

The idea behind the banner is have progressive creative change form an organic art work that lives in the store. So the slate is never wiped clean. Instead each new installment overlaps the last. You can still see the pink/purple work in the background done by Carmen and Andrew from the late FUGU Design Studio.

Chris Worfold is an Australian, Brisbane based artist, artworker and educator with an extensive local exhibition history. He is a graduate from the Queensland College of Art and the Queensland University of Technology in Visual Arts and Education. He has been co-director of a commercial gallery, curated numerous exhibitions, written for catalogues and publications. He has completed several public art commissions, served on a number of arts committees and taught Visual Arts for over 10 years. He currently teaches part-time at the Southbank Institute of Technology and has an escalating arts practice which is extending internationally and into publications. He has stacked all his accomplishments beside him.

Leopold Reigns the Fashion Empire

Our big collaboration with Leopold at Australian Fashion Week produced a stellar parade. Leopold's designers Boyd and Shandor were once again confirmed the kings of Men's Fashion in Australia.

As I'm sure you already know, Leopold is the Melbourne based menswear label coveted for its refreshing blend of the traditional with the contemporary. The elegant style defines itself in rich fabrics, unexpected details, fine tailoring and bold colours.

You can get all of the shoes from the parade for yourself at veinwear.com and selected styles from the Leopold's Empire store in Melbourne.

Leopold opened it’s first Signature Store, Leopold’s Empire, in January 2007. Situated on Melbourne’s City Square, between uber-cool Flinders Lane and prestigious Collins Street. Staying true to Leopold’s relaxed, elegant styling, the space reflects the characteristics of the brand. The distinctive architectural design incorporates a clean, masculine palette of polished concrete, ebonised wood, stained glass, black stainless steel and accents of Leopold’s signature red.

Leopold’s Empire offers the full Leopold collection, along with Leopold Eyewear and accessories, Superfine denim, Akira menswear, jewellery by Michelle Irwin, and shoes by Vein Wear.

Vein Wear Sustained an Injury at Australian Fashion Week

Injury clothing by designer Eugene Leung from Sydney have been creating what they term experimental fashion since 2002. Their website theinjury.com.au says that the label began as creative collective of individuals from various non-fashion backgrounds in order to create their own flavour of different clothing.

I may be wrong here, but I think this is the first time they have shown at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW). Of the parade, Fashion-Scoop wrote, "The galactic inspiration behind the collection from Injury at RAFW took menswear to an ethereal place. Dark, muted tones were given celestial accents in the form of metallic sequining and lurex fabrics. Soft taupe leather and blue velvet washed over the colour palette while a burst of red towards the end of the show gave the range a punch. The range was rugged and masculine but steered away from the casual street feel in favour of a purposefully styled aesthetic." (... you can also see the parade video at Fashion-Scoop.)

I was introduced to the label through our shared PR agency and Eugene used our Speed Stripe Zip Ankle Boot in Patent Black Leather for the parade. To get a pair for yourself, click here.
