They say a person that wears a monk strap shoe practices fashion asceticism. Not so if they are indulging in the likes of C'N'C CoSTUME NATIONAL or n.d.c..
The monk strap is a leather strip that comes across the instep, usually to cover the laces or as the main fastener. I really like the idea and aesthetic of the monk strap. It's just the buckles that I can't fall in love with. Maybe it's my generation speaking, but small buckles seem a little fiddly. And four of them on your feet seems a hassle.
For those that have the spare 30 seconds and the patience, the monk strap will pay dividends to your look. Check out these recent variations from C'N'C, n.d.c., Cesare Paciotti and Moschino.
