Sixty - Enrico Shoe

Embroided leather...what a striking effect. It looks fantastic on this "Enrico" shoe by Sixty. The soft and dusty colours work in a muted complimentary fashion.

Andrew McDonald Ankle Boot

Andrew McDonald is the reigning king of Australian bespoke footwear. This stunningly simple ankle boot, "Garth", is from the Winter 2007 Ready-to-Wear Collection.

Like a true gentleman it is understated and handsome. The slim profile and sweeping instep will look perfect at the base of a suit pant or dress pants. The suppleness of the full grain leather can be seen as the heel counter is visible where the leather passes over its edge. Fitted properly, these puppies would feel akin to a pair of lounge slippers. Your new old favourites.

As for the coin, they will set you back $850 for the left shoe and $850 for the right shoe...a total of AU$1,700.00 per pair.

Why are they worth it? They combine the best of traditional shoemaking traditions with the best available leather products. They are Australian designed. They employ sustainable materials that make the shoe comfortable, durable and repairable. Best of all, this boot is hand cobbled in Australia. Say no more.

A small step towards a greener carbon footprint...

Today I purchased 28 Tonnes of Carbon Credits for the year for Vein Wear. The first (quarterly) installment is 7 Tonnes. It doesn't even come close to neutralising our carbon footprint. But it is a step in the right direction and I intend on closing the gap as the year wears on.

I purchased the credits from www.climatefriendly.com who was referred to me by Map Magazine - they have a neutral footprint :)

In other environmental news, we are researching and developing eco-friendly leathers for the Vein Winter 2008 collection. These include recycling and non-toxic tanning techniques. I'll keep you up to date :)
